European Masters Aquatics Championships: The official numbers

Roma 2022 has published the official numbers of all the participants for the aquatic disciplines scheduled in the European masters championships. A total of 5,150 athletes (men and women) from 38 nations of the old continent have registered, and 302 competitions are scheduled with 8,927 entries for all events. Five competition venues between the Foro Italico, Pietralata and Ostia for as many sports disciplines: swimming, open water swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo.

More than 500 volunteers and 167 coaches and team leaders from all over Europe will bring the European Championships to life, for an event that will offer a show amidst competition, spirit of inclusion and friendship in the beautiful and fascinating setting of Rome.

All the numbers by discipline
3,292 athletes in swimming for a total of 7,400 entries for all events, plus 412 relays; the swimming events will take place between the Stadio del Nuoto and the BluStadium Pietralata.

Artistic swimming has 393 athletes representing 84 European sports clubs, among them also a male athletes. All performances will take place in the temporary pool set up at the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium.

In diving, there are 151 athletes representing 56 clubs. The entire competition will take place in the Stadio del Nuoto (Swimming Stadium), which has been renovated for the event.

Open water swimming, with 585 registered athletes, will open the Masters Championships on 24 August in the sea at Ostia. For water polo, the last discipline to start in the programme, the starting whistle is set for Monday 29 August. There will be 57 teams and 672 players competing for the European titles at the Frecciarossa water polo facility in Ostia.
