57 Water Polo teams for roma 2022

After the entries closing date, Rome 2022 has made the list of teams that will take part in the European masters water polo championships official: there are 57 teams (five for women and 52 for men) from 21 nations that will take part in the continental championships from 29 August to 4 September.

In the women's competition, there will be three titles up for grabs. Battling for gold, there will be clubs from Ireland, Germany, the Czech Republic, two Hungarian teams and Italy, which will play in front of their home crowd.

The men's calendar will be more complex with no less than seven categories reflecting in seven groups. Starting with the M35s, then there will be the M45s until the last M70 category, which will see five clubs participating. The spotlight will be on the M50 category with 14 registered teams from 10 different nations. The M55 category features he Ukrainian team of Dinamo Kiev who, despite the ongoing war, decided to take part in the continental competition.

It will be a championship dominated by German and Hungarian clubs, 20 in total. The Germans will bring in Rome nine clubs for men and one for women, the Hungarians will feature nive teams for men and one for women. Italy, the host country, will take part in the event with six men's squads and one women's team.

All Roma 2022 matches will be held at the Ostia Federal Centre, a facility that boasts two Olympic-size swimming pools located 50 metres away from the Ostia beach. The competition site is used by the Italian Swimming Federation for basic sports activities and for training athletes of national excellence, as well as for technical and scientific training. The sporting centre, in addition to being the training venue for the elite athletes European, will also be used as a hotel for masters athletes. 

More than 800 water polo players are expected in Ostia, plus coaches and managers from the various delegations.
The first match is scheduled for Monday, 29 August, with a busy schedule that will end on Sunday 4 September, the final day for all the other masters aquatics competitions at Roma 2022.
