Gaeta’s students welcome 'Water and I - Swimming in safety’ promotional campaign

Fun. Sport. Education. These are the three key words accompanying the students of the Principe Amedeo Institute of Gaeta, the Anagni Primo Institute of Anagni and the. Velletri Nord Institute who were involved in a practical demonstration test for the project called 'Water and I - Swimming in safety. To avoid lots of troubles'. The educational campaign, designed by the Italian Swimming Federation, stopped off in Gaeta as one of the promotional events for the upcoming European Aquatics Championships in Rome (11-21 August).

On Monday 23 May, the beach of the city, located in the Latium Region, turned into a theatre for rescue simulations based on five educational topics: water safety, first aid, environmental protection, rescue dogs and competitive lifesaving activities. The star of the day was Gastone, one of the two Roma 2022 mascots, who, together with eight other dogs, showed the young students how important are rescue dogs in water lifesaving.

The event was also attended by the Fire Department, the Port Authority, the Italian Red Cross and the Marevivo Association.

The next practical demonstration test of the campaign will take place in Ladispoli on 7 June.
