Sargent Larsen, Jodoin di Maria and Timbretti Gugiu: multi-ethnic Italian diving team between dives and friendship

Andreas Sargent Larsen was born to an Italian mother in Copenhagen on 20 April 1999. During a competition in Germany, he was noticed by Italy's Benedetta Molaioli, who is still his coach today, and from that moment the story has changed. His idol is Great Britain's Tom Daley and he has lived in Italy since 2018. He speaks Italian but mostly the Roman dialect, mainly thanks to his friends in the Curva Sud, as he became a A.S. Roma football club fan in a very short time. Being a big sports fan, he follows everything from tennis to Formula 1 and curling. He often eats ice cream and pizza, he loves Rome but Montecarlo is his relaxing spot.

Sarah Jodoin di Maria is not from Europe, but from Canada. Coached by Roman former diver Tommaso Marconi, she was born in Montreal to a Calabrian father and a Canadian mother on 31 January 2000. She has family all over Italy, between Guidonia and Bologna. She studies economics at University. Very shy and introverted when she first arrived, the city of Rome made her outgoing and extremely friendly. She is the currently girlfriend of an athlete of the taekwondo Italian national team.

Eduard Timbretti Gugiu was born in Cuneo on 18 June 2002. He grew up in Piedmont with his Romanian parents. He became an Italian citizen in 2019, at the age of 17, following the oath of his father Sandro and in 2020 he got the Italian sporting citizenship. He, however, has always considered himself 100% Italian and a true native from Piedmont. Graduated from the "Peano-Pellico" scientific high school in Cuneo, he will try the admission test for the Faculty of Medicine in September. In his spare time he enjoys solving Rubik's cubes and is a big fan of magic.

The three of them, together with Chiara Pellacani, who lives and studies in the United States, won the gold medal in the team event on the first day of the diving competition, with an impressive total score of 402.55.
