Italian 400m medley record holder Luca Marin at the Foro Italico: "I'm rooting for the Azzurri and I’m following Popovici"

Luca Marin, Luca Marin, a former swimmer and still the Italian 400m medley record holder, is at the Foro Italico these days to cheer on the Azzurri and also works as a TV commentator. As he walks around the facilities, where he also participated at the 2009 world championships, he talks about his impressions of these European Championships: "As always, Rome is special and the Foro Italico is a wonderful facility. This is the most beautiful pool in the world, at least for me, and it is wonderful to see such a strong Italian national team."

David Popovici live in the freestyle: in my opinion he is the swimmer of the future. And I am sorry that Leon Marchand, who won gold in the 200m and 400m medley in Budapest, is not here. He is 20 years old and has a bright future ahead."

Speaking of the future, today Luca Marin lives in Locarno, Switzerland, where he coaches, "I train girls and boys from 13 to 18 years old and we cover all strokes and distances. The goal is to get to take some of them to compete in major events."
